January 23, 2005

It began snowing Saturday afternoon, January 22, 2005. These photos are from our leisurely walk through Cambridge on Sunday morning: We started our trip around 9:45 AM, and the snow was still falling. Very few people were out. Even fewer cars were out. Lots of snow everywhere. The city of Cambridge was very quiet...

135 Inman Street. Our apartment building. The Inman Square fire station is in the background.

A white Volvo parked on Inman Street is almost completely buried.

Lots of snow over there, too.

Those cars aren't going anywhere soon.

Looking east down Mass Ave. from Inman Street. The 1369 Coffee House was actually open! (second store on the left)

Looking up Massachusetts Avenue.

Two people walking up to Mass. Ave.

Walking along Green Street. Some crazy guy actually tried to drive down this road - and got stuck. Notice the driver's side mirror sticking out of the snow on the right side of the picture.

Jason standing in the snow near the northern bank of the Charles River. That's not a snow drift, it was that deep everywhere.

Alayne waves at me, and tells me not to get too close to the river.

Alayne smiles while talking on the phone.

She has snow and ice on her eyebrows and eyelashes.

Cooper won't get off the phone.

Alayne is happy that we're almost back to the apartment.

Then we went in and had some hot chocolate. We would have sat by the fire, but we do not have a fireplace in our apartment.
