Jason and Alayne in Carcassonne.

This is the main road into the old city. Jason anticipates having to drive up this steep, narrow, pedestrian-filled roadway to get to the hotel parking lot.

Jason, in Carcassonne.

Jason has fun along the old city wall.

Jason thinks to himself "this is going to be awesome!"

The old city wall.

A view from the castle, a few rooftops in the old city and the basilica in the old city. The basilica is half Romanesque and half Gothic.

Alayne stands next to some friendly looking people while listening to the audio tour.

Alayne walks out of the bathroom in the castle.

Jason and Alayne, standing on the bridge over the moat to the castle in Carcassonne.

This narrow roadway is the only way into and out of the old city. I don't think that traffic signal is MUTCD compliant.

When leaving the city, driving down the steep hill is a lot easier than driving up the hill in a standard transmission. But driving in either direction, one needs to stop every 5 feet to avoid running over a pedestrian.

This is the view from our hotel window in Sarlat.

Alayne and Jason walk around Sarlat.

This is our hotel in Sarlat. Our window isn't quite the highest window in the picture, but just below the highest window.

Some of the wonderful things we found in Sarlat.

This is "Le Tourny" restaurant where we had a very filling dinner.

This is a tribute tomb to the Benedictine monks in Sarlat.
